Even after a handful of glowing reviews, Izzoz Tacos remains a secret for most Austinites. I hope that era ends soon, since several of the best tacos in Austin can be found at this semi-permanent taco trailer. And these aren’t just any old tacos. I’d call them artisanal, the product of a highly trained chef who has turned his back on traditional restaurants and set out on his own: a rebel. Every recipe has been conceived just right, with an unexpected twist of flavor that will keep you raving about it for days. Even if you prefer your tacos a little more down and dirty, you’ve gotta try this place at least once. (Also, for the time being, they do an amazing 2-5pm happy hour special every day: all tacos only $2!!!)
RECS: the portabella mushroom taco is my number 2 in the US. the braised carnita pork and blackened tilapia tacos may be just as good.
