My first visit here in 2007 was nothing less than a milestone. It fundamentally altered my conception of the possibilities of coffee and shattered my espresso experiences into periods pre- and post-Stumptown. Even as they’ve challenged Seattle’s empire and taken NYC by storm with satellite locations (after years of selling beans to other vendors), Stumptown remains Portland’s hometown hero. With convenient locations all over the city, this one is an absolute must.
RECS: I love the lattes (with soy, rice, or almond milk) but every drink is a work of art. The downside comes when you go anywhere else and it suddenly seems so ordinary.
