Zushi Puzzle (San Francisco, CA)

Even after you step inside Zushi Puzzle, it still seems like just another Lombard St. disappointment, but this little restaurant packs a serious punch. With reasonable prices that match most other mediocre sushi places and an interior design that leaves no lasting impression, it’s the pure quality of the food that will keep you coming back to try more from Zushi’s lengthy menu. If you live near the Marina, or travel regularly on Lombard without ever considering its hidden gems, make a point of stopping here soon (the food is far better than the name, I swear).

RECS: Save up an appetite and go all in with the Chef’s Special Sushi Deluxe combo. If you don’t like nigiri, go for any of the long list of appetizers, maki rolls, noodle soups or dinner entrees. But don’t expect to try it all on your first visit.
