Las Cazuelas (Austin, TX)

Unlike the far more popular Juan in a Million down the street, the clientele at Las Cazuelas is largely Mexican, which means you’re in for some of the best tacos and combo plates in East Austin, always at affordable prices. The bright yellow exterior belies the simple, tasty, inexpensive meals served within. Though the volume of the jukebox can sometimes make it feel crowded even when you’re the only customer there, Cazuelas also has street-side outdoor seating if the day is nice. Settle in for an authentic dining experience, or grab a few tacos to-go and head elsewhere.

RECS: The mega-cheap tacos are outstanding—no-frills and just the right amount of grease—my favorites being the carnitas and beans-and-eggs. They also have a huge menu of combo plates, of which I’d recommend any of the enchiladas.
