As an Asheville resident for the last 15 years, I am totally impressed that you’ve infiltrated our wonderful city enought to know about some of the more “native” secrets, like Nona Mia, Tomato’s and Sunny Point. When we first moved here the food scene was dreary at best. It’s absolutely excellent now.

For Berkeley/Oakland coffee, I’d definitely add Local 123 (multiple roaster), Subrosa (Four Barrel), Remedy (Ritual) and Modern Coffee (multiple roaster). Those four along with Bica would be my top East Bay picks.

Used this as a culinary bible as I made my way through Portland last weekend. Clyde Common was KILLER, as promised. Tasty N Sons deserves an asterisks…or seven.

The yellowfin was tasty but I wish I had tried the brisket. And I wish you had corn tortillas! I can’t eat flour unfortunately. Hope to be back in Lafayette soon!

Hey Taco Citizen, I love that you ate at my taco stand in Lafayette, Louisiana (Taco Sisters) and left a “Taco Citizen Eats Here” sign on our little board on the porch. Nice touch! So, what did you think of our food?

I’m a big fan of Molly’s in the Market, a dive bar in the French Quarter frequented by Times-Piccayune staff and other rough trade. They used to have a permanently churning Irish Coffee machine installed in the wall.
